COMPET’plus project

The COMPET´plus project, which is a continuation of the POCTEFA Competitiv’eko project, stemmed from the desire to contribute towards making Europe a smart, sustainable and integrating economy by contributing towards efforts to enable the EU and its member states to achieve high levels of employment, productivity and social cohesion.

In this context, COMPET’plus (business competitiveness and innovation platforms to relocate activities in the trans-frontier space, create strengthened value chains and establish cooperation between SMEs and backing companies that attract businesses) promotes the business competitiveness and innovation of SMEs by measuring the trans-frontier economic flows between the three territories involved, identifying the leading SMEs, startups and technology centres with strong added value in four areas:

  • Energy
  • Mobility
  • Agrifood
  • CCI (Cultural and Creative Industries)

General objective:

Create two innovation platforms that promote collaborative work between backing companies and leaders and the supplying companies (SMEs and local businesses) to generate a combined technological supply, thus giving rise to research agreements to develop marketable products.

Alongside the general objective, COMPET’plus has other specific aims:

  • Analysis of trans-frontier economic flows in converging sectors of the RIS3.
  • Design of trans-frontier value chains.
  • Identification of unprofitable innovative links and work with economic agents to complete strategic activities.
  • Identification of innovation and business opportunities.
  • Identification of job profiles required to cover identified strategic activities.

COMPET’plus is a European project selected and 65% co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Interreg V-A Spain-France-Andorra Programme (POCTEFA 2014-2020 – DG REGIO) with a budget of 862895 € (tax included).

The aim of POCTEFA  is to reinforce the economic and social integration of the frontier area of Spain-France-Andorra. The aid provided will focus on developing economic, social and environmental activities through joint strategies to encourage sustainable territorial development.
